The PFAL-30 Air Terminal is made of two types of materials: the lance is made of aluminium, the tip and the base of the rod are made of stainless steel.
This system allows the base to be installed and then the lightning rod, which consists of the lance and the tip, to be screwed onto it.
The advantage of this equipment is that it has a very low maintenance cost. If the lighting rod receives an impact and the tip gets damaged, it can be replaced by a new one at a very low cost.

How Does the PFAL-30 Air Terminal Work?
It works in the same way as any Franklin sensor: the tip ionises the air around it by harnessing the electric field of the cloud and attracting the lightning.

Installation Process of the PFAL-30 Air Terminal
The installation process is as follows:
The first step is to place the metal base on the wall, ceiling or installation site of the lighting rod. The base has two holes through which a pair of fixing screws are inserted. These must be suitable for the surface on which the lighting rod is to be installed.
When the base is fixed, the second step is to screw the captor into the threaded hole in the centre of the base. Once it stops, it is secured by adjusting the nut that comes with the captor as a locknut.
