The ENZA-2 lightning rod is an ionizing lightning rod that is characterized by its high performance and guarantees the user better protection against lightning.

The lightning rod Enza-2 with Franklin captor is made entirely of stainless steel, and stands out for its particular aesthetics and reduced size.

The fundamental advantage of this equipment is its high performance because of its ionization system that increases safety within the coverage radius.

In the development of the ENZA-2 lightning rod, the main objective was to optimize the classic Franklin captor.

As a result, we now have a design with performance that far exceeds that of a conventional Franklin captor, maintaining the coverage area as required by current regulations.

How does the ENZA-2 Lightning Rod work?

The ENZA-2 Ionising Lightning Rod is a powerful air ioniser in its vicinity.

It is equipped with an ion emitter composed of 4 electrodes of 11.8 in length, which are energized by the electrostatic field, which increases according to the activity of the storm cloud that approaches the protection zone.

This marks a fundamental difference with respect to the conventional Franklin lightning rod which, not having an air ionization emitter, makes the protected area less safe.

The ENZA-2 Lightning Rod vs. Conventional Franklin Lightning Rod

The ionising charge (corona effect) produced by the Franklin Tip is much lower than that produced by the ENZA-2 lightning rod.

The Franklin point is triggered when a 6 kv/cm gradient is produced in its vicinity by the effect of the potential at the tip of the approaching beam. This is a characteristic value of the air at normal temperature and pressure.

ENZA-2's ion emission increases as the stepped leader (beam) approaches (due to the Towsend effect).

The ionisation produced by the ENZA-2 emitters potentially increases as the lightning approaches, which deteriorates the dielectric rigidity of the air and significantly reduces the lightning rod's triggering gradient.

The same beam induces a return when the step leader is further away, which explains why the ENZA-2 has a higher performance than a standard Franklin tip.
